Nesta fase do projeto, parto da apropriação das fotografias de tipos raciais, incialmente usadas como evidencia científica antropológica da inferioridade ontológica das pessoas negres escravizades e posteriormente usadas para o desenvolvimento da criminologia entre os sécs. XIX e XX.  Tenho me debruçado sobre as fotografias produzidas por August Sthal, no Brasil, em sua maioria realizadas no âmbito da Expedição Thayer, organizada pelo naturalista suíço Louis Agassiz [1807 – 1873]. Essas fotos encontram-se no Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology – Harvard Institute.

O projeto propõe ressignificar essas imagens, procurando simbolicamente libertar essas corpas dos textos que lhe aprisionam e escrevê-las em outros, verbais e visuais, que as coloque como os seres cósmicos que são, de potência infinita e capazes de uma existência múltipla. Ao mesmo tempo, buscando expor a violência do passado e questionar suas permanências em nosso tempo presente.  É um trabalho com e contra os arquivos coloniais.

At this moment, the project starts from the appropriation of photographs of racial types, initially used as anthropological scientific evidence of the ontological inferiority of enslaved black people and later used for the development of criminology between the centuries. XIX and XX. I have focused on the photographs produced by August Sthal, in Brazil, mostly taken within the scope of the Thayer Expedition, organized by the Swiss naturalist Louis Agassiz [1807 – 1873]. These photos can be found at the Peabody Museum of Archeology and Ethnology – Harvard Institute.
The project proposes to re-signify these images, symbolically seeking to free these bodies from the texts that imprison them and write them in others, verbal and visual, that place them as the cosmic beings they are, of infinite power and capable of a multiple existence. At the same time, seeking to expose the violence of the past and question its permanence in our present time. It is a work with and against colonial archives.
